§ Lord Braine of Wheatleyasked Her Majesty's Government:
What plans they have to ensure that the compulsory wearing of seat belts is more strictly enforced.

Offenders are commonly issued with a fixed penalty notice, or warned, but prosecutions are also undertaken. The Department of Transport encourages voluntary compliance with the regulations by means of periodic publicity campaigns.
