To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage how many women are currently employed by her Department; and what proportion this is of the total. [1248]

Mr. Sproat

[holding answer 4 November 1996]: My Department, excluding its executive agencies, currently employs 178 women. This is 49 per cent. of the total staff employed by the Department.
