HC Deb 04 November 1996 vol 284 cc404-6W
Mr. Maclennan

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what research his Department has supported on childhood leukaemia by ensuring that the national database of childhood leukaemia held by the childhood cancer research group remains open; and what plans he has for future funding. [2332]

Mr. Horam

The Department of Health supports the childhood cancer research group. A new contract has been placed to run from 1 January 1996 to 31 December 2000 to a value of £350,000 per year. One of the main objectives of the core-funded programme is the development and management of the national registry of childhood tumours, which includes virtually all cases of cancer and leukaemia in children aged 0 to 14 in Great Britain.
