HC Deb 17 May 1996 vol 277 cc586-7W
Mr. David Nicholson

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make a statement on the measures he has taken to reduce the administrative burdens affecting general practitioners. [29644]

Mr. Malone

Good progress is being made to implement the report of the efficiency scrutiny into bureaucracy in general practice, "Patients not Paper". As a result, the number of forms completed by general practitioners and practice staff will be reduced by around 17 million a year when new procedures are introduced from 1 July 1996.
