Mr. Malone

[holding answer 24 April 1996]: The cost of printing and collating the letter was £36,780.17. The costs relating to postage to relevant health professionals were £54,040.52. The Medicines Control Agency agreed to fund the costs of this letter since there was a clear need to provide health professionals with additional information and guidance on the practical management issues arising from the advice issued by the Committee on Safety of Medicines on the safety of oral contraceptives dated 18 October. The letter was produced jointly by the Faculty of Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care and the Family Planning Association.
