Mr. Ainger

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the European agricultural guidance and guarantee fund projects approved under the rural Wales programme in 1995–96, indicating in each case their total eligible costs, the grant originally allocated to each project, the date each sponsor was informed of the actual grant available and how much grant was spent by 31 March. Mr. Jones

Under the objective 5(b) rural Wales single programming document 1994–1999, 52 projects had been approved to receive European agricultural guidance and guarantee fund grant assistance by March 1996. The lists of selected projects and estimated individual grant amounts were published in Welsh Office press notices dated 24 August 1995 and 5 February 1996 and copies are available in the Library of the House. EAGGF grant totalling around £6.09 million had been committed on projects with estimated eligible costs of £14.4 million, of which £1.07 million grant has been paid on expenditure up to 31 January 1996. The dates on which approval letters were issued will vary in each individual case.
