To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans he has to collect and publish emergency admissions to intensive therapy units(a) nationally, (b) regionally and (c) by health authority. [21671]

Mr. Horam

The working group set up to formulate guidelines on admissions to and discharges from intensive care has recommended that the collection of this data should be introduced across the national health service as soon as possible.

This recommendation has been referred to the Review of Central Requirements Committee and the Committee for Regulating Information Requirements.
