To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what measures he proposes to improve the morale of teachers; and if he will make a statement. [18923]

Mr. Richards

Good teachers are motivated by the desire to see their pupils achieve, and by the sense of purpose and direction which a good senior staff team is able to create in a school. The document "A Bright Future", published last year, focuses on these issues, and has been well received by teachers in Wales.
