I refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. Member for Clydebank and Milngavie (Mr. Worthington) by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Science and Technology on 10 May 1995,Official Report, columns 517–18 and the answer my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Trade and Industry gave to the hon. Member for Wallsend (Mr. Byers) on 27 February 1996, Official Report, column 459. On 11 November 1995, my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister announced a full UK arms embargo against Nigeria and, subsequently, on 20 November the European Union introduced a full scope arms embargo against the country.231W
My hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Trade and Industry will write to the hon. Member when the statistical analysis of export licences granted for military, para-military and security equipment during 1995 has been placed in the Library of the House.
