To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, pursuant to his answer of 27 February,Official Report, column 496, what assessment he has made of the impact of containing the total outturn expenditure figure on the Cardiff bay barrage project on completion of (a) the environmental island in the lake, (b) the announced number of water mixers, (c) the sea angling pier, (d) the combined rain and foul sewer outfalls to a standard of not more than three spills per summer, (e) three boat locks, and (f) the reduction of the lake water depth to 1.5 m; and if he will make a statement. An assessment of these costs is an operational matter for the Cardiff Bay development corporation. I have asked the chief executive of the corporation to respond and will place a copy of that response in the Library of the House.
