HC Deb 04 March 1996 vol 273 c24W
Mr. Chidgey

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what provision has been made by the Rail Regulator to allow for boarding and alighting from trains by disabled passengers. [17939]

Mr. Watts

As required by the Railways Act 1993, the Rail Regulator has produced a code of practice on meeting the needs of disabled passengers which covers recommendations for the design of rolling stock and stations. All train and station operators are required to submit for the regulator's approval, a disabled persons protection policy, based on this code of practice.
