§ Mrs. DunwoodyTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what applications have been made by Air Operations International to operate flights in and out of the United Kingdom. [33283]
§ Mr. NorrisNo applications to operate flights to the UK have been made to the Department of Transport by Air Operations International, which does not possess an operating licence or an air operator's certificate. I 649W understand that the Swedish aeronautical authorities are currently considering an application for an air operator's certificate by Air Operations International. The Department has asked for a copy of the operating licence if and when one is issued.
The terms of EC regulations 2407/92 and 2408/92 on, respectively, the licensing of air carriers and access for Community carriers to intra-Community air routes mean that carriers with a valid operating licence granted by a country in the European Economic Area are not required to apply for permission to operate services from the UK to a destination inside the EEA.
Air Operations International would, however, need to apply to the Department for permission to operate flights from the UK to destinations outside the EEA.
