HC Deb 20 June 1996 vol 279 cc595-6W
Mr. Trickett

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security which caller service sites in the Yorkshire area are to be lost; what are the Benefit Agency's plans for these sites; and what expenditure has been undertaken on each of these sites over the last five financial years. [33025]

Mr. Roger Evans

This is a matter for Peter Mathison, the chief executive of the Benefits Agency. He will write to the hon. Member.

Letter from Peter Mathison to Mr. Jon Trickett, dated 19 June 1996: The Secretary of State for Social Security has asked me to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question asking which Caller Service sites in the Yorkshire area are to be lost; what are the Benefit Agency's plans for these sites; and what expenditure has been undertaken on each of these sites over the last five financial years. Local managers have been reviewing the provision of caller outlets within the District network in the Yorkshire Area but no decisions have yet been made to close any individual site. Should there be any proposals to close a particular site there would be local consultation in the usual way with customers, their MPs and customer representative groups. I hope you find this reply helpful.
