To ask the Minister of Agriculture. Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the future of the Institute for Animal Health at Compton. [32036]

I have been asked to reply.

As I announced on 22 February 1996, the Institute for Animal Health is currently undergoing a prior options review, alongside reviews of other research establishments which carry out research in similar or related fields. I await the outcome of these reviews, which are due to be completed by end-July 1996.
