HC Deb 04 June 1996 vol 278 c342W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence for what reasons he has extended the deadline for bids under the market testing programme at RAF Sealand; and if he will make a statement. [30823]

Mr. Soames

The time taken to answer bidders' formal questions, to provide up to date detailed Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 1981–TUPE—data and to amend the invitation to tender have all contributed to the extension. In order to allow bidders sufficient time to respond to ITT changes, the tender submission date has been delayed from 8 May 1996 to 12 June 1996.

Mr. Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many uniformed personnel are currently stationed at RAF Sealand, Deeside. [30821]

Mr. Soames

On 23 May 1996 there were 338 uniformed personnel stationed at RAF Sealand.

Mr. Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many civilians are employed at RAF Sealand. [30820]

Mr. Arbuthnot

On 1 April 1996 there were 1,305 MOD civilian staff employed at RAF Sealand.
