§ Mr. Clifton-Brown
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many and what research projects to develop new methods of contraception were funded by the aid budget in(a) 1994 and (b) 1995; and for what period of time.
§ Mr. Hanley
None in 1994. In 1995, ODA and the Medical Research Council agreed support over a five-year period for a contraceptive development network focusing on the contraceptive effects of antigestogens for women and steriodal hormones for male contraception with the aim of developing promising new methods of contraception.
