To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many hours of enhanced training staff in each dispersal prison have undergone in each year since 1990; and how many hours are planned in the next four financial years; [37732]

Responsibility for these matters has been delegated to the Director General of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from David Scott to Mr. George Howarth, dated 24 July 1996: The Home Secretary has asked me, in the absence of the Director General from the office, to reply to your recent Questions about the number of hours training undertaken by staff in dispersals. Training figures for the years in question are not held centrally. I will write to you as soon as they are available.
