To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will set out the timetable for further European Council of Ministers' decision-making in respect of quotas of tableware imports from China; and if he will make a statement. [38811]

Mr. Oppenheim

The European Commission is due to complete its annual review of these quotas, and to propose any appropriate adjustments, before 31 December 1996. The Council of Ministers will then consider the issue.
