To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will now take urgent steps to release the strip of land owned by the Welsh Office in the vicinity of Pool-side in Caernarfon, to enable this redevelopment plan for that area to go ahead. [38560]

I understand the land in question is in the ownership of Gwynedd county council. I have received an application from the authority under section 123 of the Local Government Act 1972 seeking my agreement to its disposing of the land at less than market value. My officials have written to the authority seeking information which will enable me to make a decision.
