The number of people starting youth training in Great Britain in each year since 1990–91 is as follows:

  • 1990–91: 347,800
  • 1991–92: 290,400
  • 1992–93: 286,700
  • 1993–94: 290,300
  • 1994–95: 303,600
  • 1995–96: 304,400
