§ Mr. NewtonOn 1 October 1971, a Member's annual salary was £3,250. The salary in May this year, the latest date for which figures are available, would be:
- (a) £24,041 had it been increased in line with inflation; and
- (b) £36,899 had it been increased in line with the national average increase in earnings.
