To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress has been made in the establishment of a young offenders institution at Colchester. [34545]

Miss Widdecombe

On 17 April, I announced our intention to establish a young offender institution at the military corrective training centre at Colchester.

Preparations are going well and I look forward to announcing the opening of this new institution in the autumn.
