It is not part of our responsibility to issue guidelines or advice on private finance to other organisations. Guidelines issued by the Treasury on private finance matters across the public service, including the NHS, is a matter for my right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Since that reply, two further schemes with a capital value more than £1 million have been approved by the national health service executive under the private finance initiative, as follows:
South Buckinghamshire NHS trust; new hospital developments at High Wycombe and Amersham at a capital value of £35 millionHavering Hospitals NHS trust: renewal and maintenance of engineering plant and equipment through a technical service programme. Capital value £2.1 million.
