HL Deb 27 February 1996 vol 569 c92WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will seek information about military operations in Sivas province, Turkey, in which some 300 villages mainly inhabited by Alevi Turks are alleged to have been blockaded and 500 persons detained.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey:

Yes. Our Embassy in Ankara will call on members of the Turkish parliamentary commission set up to investigate these incidents. It will also seek additional information from the delegation of MPs which recently visited the region.
