§ Mr. David Davis[holding answer 19 February 1996]: £89,417.96 has been spent on external legal advice for Ministers and civil servants since the answer given by the Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, my right hon. Friend the Member for Richmond and Barnes (Mr. Hanley), on 17 January, column 589. The total figure for this Department now stands at £407,583.42.
