Mr. Roger Evans

This is a matter for Peter Mathison, the chief executive of the Benefits Agency. He will write to the hon. Member with such information as is available.

Letter from Peter Mathison to Mr. Gerry Steinberg, dated 9 February 1996: The Secretary of State for Social Security has asked me to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question asking what is the average time for a claim renewal. The benefits that require renewal claims are Family Credit, Disability Living Allowance, Disability Working Allowance and Attendance Allowance. Statistics for the average clearance time of a renewal claim are produced on a monthly basis and the figures below show the year to date achievement between April 1995 and December 1995:- Family Credit: 11.7 days Disability Working Allowance: 18.5 days Disability Living Allowance: 23.0 days Information about Attendance Allowance could only be obtained at disproportionate cost. I hope you find this reply helpful.
