HL Deb 05 February 1996 vol 569 cc1-2WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they intend to provide money to the United States for the further development of satellite-sensing equipment for the use of the Central Intelligence Agency and the other United States intelligence services, which are now in process of consolidating space-derived information into one agency; whether, were the United Kingdom to help fund these American proposals, the information, military and other, obtained by such sensors would be available to the United Kingdom on equal terms with the United States (and if not on what terms); and whether it would be open to them to share it at their own discretion with their NATO and Western European Union allies.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Earl Howe):

It is not our practice to comment on such matters.
