To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if his Department circulates country-specific lists of prisoners of conscience to other Departments whose Ministers are about to undertake visits aborad; if he encourages Ministers from outside his Department to raise such cases on visits; and if he will make a statement. 9W
§ Sir Nicholas Bonsor
We frequently raise cases of individual political prisoners with our Governments. When a reliable, country-specific list is available, and is likely to be an effective means of alerting another Government to our concerns, Ministers from other Departments due to visit the country in question may be briefed accordingly and encouraged to make use of it.
