To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what estimate he has made of the cost of carrying out an epidemiological survey to establish the existence of the alleged Gulf war syndrome. [12329]

The costs of the epidemiological surveys, which I announced on Tuesday 30 January in my reply to the hon. Member for South Shields, (Dr. Clark),Official Report, column 607–08, have yet to be determined.
