§ Mr. Gwilym JonesThe Melbourne declaration does not provide for formal endorsement by Government of its conclusions. Its main recommendations are, however, already being taken forward in Wales through implementation of the "Protocol for Investment in Health Gain: Injuries". Injury prevention and control is also identified as a health priority area in "Caring for the Future". Welsh mortality rates for injury are now among the lowest in Europe.
