Grants to GPs for the construction and improvement of practice premises form part of the general medical services cash-limited allocation, which is administered at the discretion of the health authority. The general medical services cash-limited allocation increased by £4 million in 1996–97 to £59.2 million—an increase in real terms of 7.36 per cent.
