§ Mr. Robin SquireThe Government's plans further to improve the quality and standard of state education include publishing primary school tables based on the national curriculum assessment results of 11-year-olds; funding 13 literacy and 12 numeracy centres in local education authorities, starting in September 1996; and working closely with the Teacher Training Agency, in co-operation with the Office for Standards in Education, to review the current arrangements for teacher appraisal.
