§ Mr. Robin SquireThe capital that the Department expects to raise through the private finance initiative is set out at table 6.5 of the "Financial Statement and Budget Report 1996–97", a copy of which is placed in the House of Commons Library. That document shows that for 1996–97 and 1997–98 capital spend via the private finance initiative is expected to be £20 million and £40 million respectively. There is no available information on finance raised by the Department through the private finance initiative for 1995–96. The figures do not include the significant capital expected to be raised through the private finance initiative by independent educational institutions, which include universities, further education colleges and grant-maintained schools.
