HC Deb 03 April 1996 vol 275 c238W
Sir Ivan Lawrence

To ask the Attorney-General what has been the expense to public funds of the case of Rv. Burt and Adams Ltd. on the trading-up of non-monetary prizes from amusement machines; and what is the expected cost of the proposed appeal to the House of Lords if that appeal should fail. [23291]

The Attorney-General

The judicial and court costs for the Crown Court and the Court of Appeal totalled approximately £2,593. The prosecution costs in those proceedings were £12,707.29. This does not include those costs attributable to Crown Prosecution Service staff who worked on the case as part of their ordinary duties. It is not possible to give an estimate of the overall costs of the appeal to the House of Lords.
