§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyOverseas visitors to the UK spent £11.7 billion in 1995. That is an increase of 18 per cent. on 1994, and a record in real terms. The latest figure for spending by all tourists in the UK is £34 billion in 1994, equivalent to over 5 per cent. of gross domestic product.
