To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will bring forward measures to make all patients aware of the cost of their individual treatment under the NHS. [39741]

The "Code of Practice on Openness in the NHS", issued in April 1995, sets out the information that NHS trusts are required to make available to members of the public. In most cases, this information will enable estimates of treatment costs to be made. There are no plans to advise patients of the cost of their individual treatment. Copies of the code are available in the Library.
