§ Mr. LangInformation on lay appointments to the industrial tribunals is not available for South Yorkshire as appointments are made on a regional rather than a county basis. Appointments are made triennially from 25 October for an initial period of three years and are renewable up to age 70. Lay members are not paid a salary but receive a fee of £119 for a whole day's sitting plus travelling and subsistence allowances, where applicable.
