HC Deb 30 October 1995 vol 265 cc34-5W
Ms Glenda Jackson

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what percentage of patients presenting themselves to accident and emergency departments within(a) the London area and (b) England in 1994 were assessed by a nurse within five minutes of arriving. [38623]

Mr. Malone

In the quarter ended 31 December 1994, 91 per cent. of patients in England were assessed immediately on arrival in accident and emergency departments. The latest information, for the quarter ended 30 June 1995, shows that national performance has risen to 93 per cent. These figures are based on samples.

Information on the performance of individual London trusts in the quarter ended 31 March 1995 is contained in the 1994–95 NHS performance tables, copies of which are available in the Library.
