To ask, the Secretary of State for Wales what action he proposes to take in relation to the recent findings about the operation of the renovation grant system by Rhondda borough council and if he will make a statement. [38616]

Responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the renovation grant system rests with district councils. Any suggestion of malpractice should be placed before the monitoring officer, district auditor, local government ombudsman or the police to investigate. The district auditor has already carried out a full inquiry and reported on renovation grants in Rhondda.
