§ Mr. HagueThe most recent estimate indicates a population of approximately 50,000 brown hares in Wales in the early 1990s. No estimates are available on a more local basis. Further information can be found in "A Review of British Mammals: population estimates and conservation status of British mammals other than cetaceans" published by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee in 1995.
