§ Mr. MacleanI understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that prior to the launch of Operation Bumblebee in June 1993, the number of domestic burglaries recorded for the financial year 1992–93 was 127,611. A total of 15,136—11.8 per cent.—of these offences were cleared up. By 31 March 1995 the number of recorded burglaries had fallen to 106,558, while the number of crimes cleared up had risen to 20,666—19.4 per cent.
