To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans he has for legislation to introduce new national health service complaints and disciplinary procedures for general practitioners; on what date would these procedures take effect; and if he will make a statement. [37046]

The Government intend to lay measures before Parliament to introduce new national health service complaints and disciplinary procedures for family health services practitioners from 1 April 1996.
