HL Deb 30 November 1995 vol 567 c49WA
Lord Vivian

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What measures they are taking to increase the enlistment rate of recruits to the Army.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Earl Howe):

The measures in hand include the allocation of additional funds to the Army's recruiting organisation, including some £5 million for extra recruit advertising; a major initiative with the Employment Service to recruit through their office network; and a more cautious approach to the reduction in Army Careers Information Offices. These are together with a number of other initiatives to increase recruitment into the Army and the retention of existing personnel.
