§ Mr. SteenTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many statutory instruments his Department sponsored in the last Session of Parliament; and how many of these(a) constituted a new rule or regulation, (b) were introduced to implement European Community directives and (c) amplify the minimum standards set out in an original European Community directive. [2456]
§ Mr. HowardIn the Session November 1994 to October 1995, 64 statutory instruments—excluding commencement orders—were made. Of these five related to changes in fee levels affecting business; nine either removed burdens on business or provided more favourable regimes; two, relating to video recordings, tightened the law. The remainder had no significant impact on business.
Only one of the statutory instruments implemented a European Community directive, and none amplified standards set out in an original European Community directive.
