HC Deb 28 November 1995 vol 267 c547W
Mr. Dafis

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list the representations he has received regarding the level of track access charges levied by Railtrack; and if he will make a statement. [472]

Mr. Watts

The approval of access charges is a matter for the Rail Regulator.

Mr. Dafis

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how much money has been received by Railtrack in track access charges for each operating division area of British Rail and for the corporation as a whole; and if he will make a statement. [474]

Mr. Watts

In 1994–95 Railtrack's access related income from passenger train operators was £1,995.2 million and freight revenue was £191.1 million.

The Rail Regulator has decided that track access agreements available for public inspection should exclude details of access charges in line with his duties under section 72 (3) of the Railways Act 1993. Consistent with this policy Railtrack does not publish income figures by train operator.
