HL Deb 27 November 1995 vol 567 c23WA
Lord Graham of Edmonton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

On how many occasions they were defeated in the House of Lords during Session 1994–95, and on how many occasions the effect of any defeats involving legislation were reversed by the House of Commons.

The Lord Privy Seal (Viscount Cranborne):

The Government was defeated on amendments to its proposed legislation on seven occasions during the 1994–95 Session. In four of these cases the effect of the amendment was subsequently reversed by the House of Commons. In the other three cases the amendment was either accepted in terms by the Commons or the intention effected by revised wording.
