To ask the Parliamentary Secretary Lord Chancellor's Department what progress has been made towards cutting energy consumption in Government buildings for which he has responsibility in each year since 1990. [1435]

The progress made towards cutting energy consumption in the Government buildings for which I am responsible, in each year since 1990, is as follows:

  • 1990–91: base year
  • 1991–92: + 1.30 per cent.
  • 1992–93: - 3.93 per cent.
  • 1993–94: -3.98 percent.
  • 1994–95: - 4.30 per cent.

The total energy consumption savings in real terms to March 1995 in buildings for which I am responsible is 10.91 per cent.
