To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will specify the professional duties of registered employment agencies which specialise in hiring out auxiliary unqualified and qualified nurses, with respect to advice to client hospitals concerning past offences of falsely claiming nursing qualifications. Local authorities are responsible for licensing nurses agencies and for securing their proper conduct. Each placement made by an agency must be supervised by a registered nurse or medical practitioner.
