To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what recent representations he has received regarding the establishment of a Mid-Wales airport and if he will make a statement. [1061]

There have been no recent representations about the airport. Mid-Wales airport was established some four years ago with the help of funds provided under the rural initiative scheme. ERDF funds were provided later for a taxiway, hardstanding and control room. Montgomeryshire district council made a bid in February for funds under the strategic development scheme for extending the runway but this was later withdrawn.
