As Chief Executive of the Contributions Agency, I have responsibility for answering questions about operational matters relating to the National Insurance scheme, I have been asked to reply to your question about how far back computerised records of National Insurance contributions extend.A cumulative total is held on each contributor's computer account of all National Insurance contributions from April 1948 to March 1975.From April 1975, detailed annual records of all National Insurance contributions are held on each contributor's account.I hope you will find this reply helpful.
